Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 5, 2026
PulseRecorder is a browser extension that records your tab, window or screen and saves the result as a video or GIF. This policy explains what happens to your data. In short: your recordings never leave your device.
What the extension stores, and where
| Data | Where it is kept | Who can access it |
|---|---|---|
| Recordings, converted files and thumbnails | Your browser’s local storage (IndexedDB) on your computer | Only you |
| Settings (quality, audio, file name pattern…) | Chrome sync storage, synced between your own Chrome profiles if Chrome sync is on | Only you, through your Google account’s Chrome sync |
| Export queue, recording status, plan status | Your browser’s local storage | Only you |
Recordings are deleted when you delete them, when they are older than your “Keep recordings for” setting, or when you uninstall the extension.
What the extension does not do
- It does not upload recordings, screenshots or audio anywhere. Video conversion (MP4, GIF) runs on your computer with a bundled copy of ffmpeg.
- It does not read the content of the web pages you visit. It only captures the tab, window or screen you choose to record, and only while you are recording.
- It has no advertising and no tracking, and it does not sell or share data with anyone.
Sharing
When you choose a share shortcut such as Google Drive, X or Gmail, the extension opens that website in a new tab and adds your file to the site’s own upload box, so you only have to confirm there. The first time you use a site this way, Chrome asks you to allow the extension on that site. The extension uses that access only at the moment you share, only to add the file you chose, and it does not read anything on the site.
If you don’t allow a site, or for chat apps, the extension downloads the file to your computer instead and you drag it in yourself. In every case you decide whether the file is sent, the file goes directly from your browser to that site, and that site’s own privacy policy then applies. Nothing passes through our servers, and the extension never signs in for you.
Camera and microphone
The microphone is used only if you turn it on, and only while a recording is running. Your browser asks for permission first, and you can revoke it at any time in Chrome’s site settings.
Payments (Pro)
Upgrading to Pro is handled by ExtensionPay and Stripe. To check whether you have paid or started a trial, the
extension contacts extensionpay.com, which identifies your installation with a random key and, if
you paid or logged in, your email address. Payment details are entered on Stripe’s pages and are never seen or
stored by the extension. ExtensionPay’s and Stripe’s privacy policies apply to that information.
Usage statistics (optional, off by default)
You can choose to share anonymous usage statistics in Settings → General. It is off unless you turn it on. When on, the extension sends only event names with one detail, such as “export started: GIF” or “share: Google Drive”, to Plausible Analytics (EU-hosted, cookie-free). It never sends recordings, titles, file names, page addresses or anything that identifies you.
Error reports
The current version sends no error reports. If optional error reporting is added in the future, it will not include recordings or page content, and this policy will be updated first.
This website and its forms
What this website and its contact and refund forms store is described in the NextDigiTools website privacy page.
Community
The PulseRecorder community is hosted by Echooers (echooers.com), a separate service. The
Community link in the extension and on this website opens it in a new tab. Nothing is sent to it unless
you go there, and anything you post there is covered by that service’s own privacy policy.
Children
The extension is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new “Last updated” date.
